Local Service Business Marketing Scorecard
Score your marketing across eight areas and find the weakest link.
Marketing rarely fails everywhere at once. Usually one link in the chain is broken, and it caps everything downstream. A great website with no lead response is a great website with no revenue.
Score each area from 1 to 5. Total the result. Then fix the lowest score first — not the one you enjoy working on.
The checklist
0 / 33 complete
1. Website (score 1–5)
2. Local Search (score 1–5)
3. Reviews (score 1–5)
4. Content (score 1–5)
5. Social Media (score 1–5)
6. Lead Response (score 1–5)
7. Follow-Up & Retention (score 1–5)
8. Measurement (score 1–5)
Where this usually goes wrong
Mistake
Adding a new channel while a core one is broken
Fix — Fix the lowest score before adding anything.
Mistake
Scoring generously
Fix — Score what is true this month, not what you intend to do.
Mistake
Fixing the fun stuff first
Fix — Lead response is boring and usually the highest-return fix.
Mistake
Never re-scoring
Fix — Re-run this quarterly and track the trend.
Frequent questions
What is a good total score?
Out of 40, under 20 means fundamentals are missing, 20 to 30 means you are competitive with gaps, and above 30 means you are ahead of most local competitors.
How often should I re-score?
Quarterly. Monthly is too noisy and annually is too slow to correct course.
Which area matters most?
Lead response, almost always. It is the cheapest to fix and it multiplies everything upstream of it.
